Nikolaj Ivanov (Evgenij Mironov) spent 7 years in the shank. When he
should be shot, a driving past farmer loose-bought him, and that one
replaced the murdered son to it. To the own village Nikolaj returned
as a Muslim. But on amplifier-change-eat under village inhabitants and
the distorting shank it did not meet. In the opposite, many noticed it
hostilely. The film ends tragically, but not hopelessly. It exists the
exit to the light, and some find it. It did not say anybody that all
will be saved. But the chance exists with all. Altogether the film is
made than middle level much higher. Actors Aleksandr Baluev and Nina
Usatova received the price for the best roles with the Festival
"Kinotavr-95".
